Weekly Photo – Iguazu Falls in Brazil & Argentina

Iguassu Falls, Brazil & Argentina

Oh how I love waterfalls!  Something about the awe I feel in being privileged to see something so powerful and beautiful all at the same time.

Iguazu Falls, or Iguassu, spelling depending on who you ask, is absolutely amazing.  It’s on the UNESCO World Heritage list and is made up of 275 falls.  For more detailed information check out this post by World of Waterfalls.  Iguazu Falls is on the border of Brazil and Argentina.   A visit to the falls is really not complete unless you get to see it from both sides.  The Brazilian side is what you see in the pictures above and below.  It’s a stunning look at all of the falls from a bit further back.  The Argentinian side is much closer up, but you don’t get to see the huge panorama as shown in the pictures.

I would recommend starting from the Brazilian side so that you can see the falls in all of their glory and then head over to the Argentina side to get an up close look!  I will warn you there is a bit of Disneyfication at work here with trams, jet boat tours right to the base of the falls, and catwalks everywhere.

I would still highly recommend it though – you won’t be disappointed.  This is definite must see on any South American itinerary!

What’s you favorite waterfall?
