Road Trip to RAK
After taking longer than expected to get settled in, we’re finally ready to start exploring! We’ve been having day trips to explore the areas around us and going to Kite Beach but this was our first full weekend trip away. Of course, there was a long search for the proper dog kennel facilities for Sebastian, little prince that he is, and we’ve found one in Dubai. So with that taken care of we started looking at places to have a weekend get away and decided on Ras Al Khaimah or RAK for short.
After dropping the dog off in Dubai we were sailing across the desert into new territory. The wind was creating some pretty bad visibility as we drove along, it swirled on the roads and created little sand drifts. By the time we got to RAK the weather had improved and we had a lovely time at the resort. As you can see, it’s a beautiful location. Because Shani still has status with Hilton from all the trips to Brazil, The Hilton Resort and Spa in Ras Al Khaimah upgraded us which was a nice bonus!
The first photo below is actually the view from our flat in Abu Dhabi on a clear day. Unlike Saudi, we didn’t see a lot of camels on the sides of the road (but the ones we did see are on her iPhone because no camel goes by without a photo). If I can ever figure out how to get access to her iCloud photos from our first weekend away I’ll add them to this post. Also unlike KSA, we had a generally relaxing drive both there and home!
And as promised, here are the shots from the iPhone
